New theme: Colourise by Theme Lab

A theme for the more egotistical blogger, perhaps, with the blog’s name being up there in a furiously large size! That blurred rainbow image behind looks good, though, and the use of colour within text is restrained and elegant. The dividing lines used under subheadings in the right sidebar, and above the footer, carry through the rainbow colouring in a way that’s eerily reminiscent of those old animated .gif horizontal rules that were all over the internet around ten years ago!
I’d question the readability of the relatively small grey-on-black text used in the main on this theme: it looks nice, and I can read it fine, but I don’t have any problems with my vision. Maybe the contrast could be slightly higher. The arrangement of elements on the page is nice, straightforward and logical though – pages up top with the search box, categories and widgets down the right, and a chunky-looking footer. The theme has ‘About’ text in the footer built in to the PHP code, which means a bunch of lorem ipsum text appearing as standard unless you change it. That’s fine if you remember to change it, but not if you don’t (or if you don’t know how).
